LG televisions work with Apple, and televisions are what this directory holds for LG — ten ranges, from the OLED sets at the top through QNED, NanoCell and the UHD models underneath.
Two separate features hide behind “works with Apple”, and it is worth knowing which one you are buying:
- AirPlay 2 sends pictures and sound from an iPhone, iPad or Mac to the television. This is the one people use.
- Apple Home puts the set in the Home app as an accessory, so it can go in a scene or an automation. Power and input selection are the useful parts; changing channel is not something Apple Home does.
Where the setting lives on webOS
LG does not put its menu where the other brands put theirs. On webOS it sits under Home Dashboard, rather than in a network or Apple settings screen, which is the most common reason someone decides their LG has not got it.
- Open Home Dashboard on the television.
- Find the AirPlay and HomeKit settings, turn AirPlay on, and start pairing.
- The set puts an eight-digit setup code on screen.
- On the iPhone, open the Home app, add an accessory, and scan or type it.
There is no universal code and nothing printed on the back of the set. Adding the television to the Home app also needs a home hub in the house — a HomePod or an Apple TV. AirPlay 2 works without one.
About ThinQ
ThinQ is LG’s app for LG’s appliances, and it is not the route to Apple Home for a television. The Apple support on an LG TV lives in webOS, on the set, and you do not need ThinQ to reach it.
The washing machines, fridges and air conditioners that ThinQ controls are not in this directory. Only the televisions are — so the ranges in the grid below are the whole LG picture as far as this site is concerned, and if you arrived wanting an LG appliance in the Home app, this page cannot honestly tell you it will work.
Check the range, and the year
LG has been shipping Apple support across a lot of model years — the entries here span 2018 to 2023 — and it did not arrive everywhere at once. Some ranges got it by firmware update rather than in the box, the entry-level model in a range often does not carry what the flagship does, and the same model number sold in another market can behave differently. The model number, and the menu on the set itself, are the only things worth trusting.
