Aqara Smart Lock U300

The Aqara Smart Lock U300 is a lever handle lock, not a deadbolt. That makes it the model to choose for the doors a deadbolt cannot serve: internal doors, back doors and outbuildings. It supports Apple Home Key alongside a fingerprint reader and a keypad.

What works in Apple Home

• Lock and unlock the door from the Home app, and see the current state.
• Tap an iPhone or an Apple Watch on the lock to open it with Apple Home Key.
• Get a notification on every lock and unlock event.
• Use the lock in scenes and automations across the rest of your Apple Home.

Siri asks you to authenticate before it unlocks the door. That is how Apple Home treats every lock, and it is not a limitation of this model.

Connectivity

The U300 speaks Matter, so it joins Apple Home without an Aqara hub. As with any Apple Home accessory, remote access and automations need an Apple Home hub in the house: a HomePod or an Apple TV. Aqara rates the lock at up to ten months on one set of replaceable batteries.

Before you buy

A leverset is a different job from a deadbolt. It replaces the handle and latch rather than a separate bolt, so check the door preparation and the handing before you order. If your front door already has a deadbolt, look at the Aqara Smart Lock U100 or the retrofit Aqara Smart Lock U200 instead.
