Cabasse THE PEARL MYUKI
The Cabasse The Pearl Myuki is a spherical active wireless speaker from the French manufacturer Cabasse, and the shape is engineering rather than styling: a sphere has no parallel internal surfaces and no cabinet edges to diffract sound.
Cabasse has built spherical speakers for decades. The Pearl range puts the amplification, conversion, streaming and room correction inside the sphere, so it needs nothing else.
What Apple Home actually does with it
This is an AirPlay 2 speaker rather than a HomeKit accessory.
- It appears in the Home app as a speaker you can play to, and as an AirPlay target in Control Centre.
- You can assign it to a room and group it with HomePods for synchronised multi-room audio.
- Siri can send music to it by room name.
- It can be the audio output in a scene or an automation.
You cannot switch it on or set its volume from the Home app the way you would a light. Those stay with the speaker and its own app.
Before you buy
Cabasse’s automatic room calibration matters here, because a sphere is usually placed on a stand or a surface where a conventional speaker would not go.
A single Pearl plays mono. Two can be paired for stereo, which doubles the price, and that is worth deciding before you buy one.
The Myuki is the more affordable model in a range that reaches considerably higher.
