The Dynaudio Codi is a compact wireless speaker from Dynaudio: a single cabinet containing the drivers, the amplification and the streaming, aimed at a room where the company’s full-size active speakers would be too much.
It carries the same driver engineering Dynaudio is known for, in a form intended for a kitchen counter, a study or a bedside table.
What Apple Home actually does with it
This is an AirPlay 2 speaker rather than a HomeKit accessory.
- It appears in the Home app as a speaker you can play to, and as an AirPlay target in Control Centre.
- You can assign it to a room and group it with HomePods for synchronised multi-room audio.
- Siri can send music to it by room name.
- It can be the audio output in a scene or an automation.
You cannot switch it on or set its volume from the Home app the way you would a light. Those stay with the speaker and its own app.
Before you buy
A single-cabinet speaker plays mono unless paired with a second one. Check whether stereo pairing is offered and what it costs.
Dynaudio’s reputation rests on its drivers, and a compact speaker is where good drivers make the most audible difference, because there is no room for a large cabinet to help.
The Dynaudio Focus range is the full-size active alternative.
