ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera

The ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera is a wired video doorbell that shows a visitor head to toe rather than only from the chest up, which is what lets it show a parcel on the step as well as the person who left it. Package detection is built in.

It makes most sense if you already own ecobee thermostats, because it shares their app and their account rather than adding another of each.

The limitation to know about

The doorbell works with Apple Home, but it does not support HomeKit Secure Video. You cannot use an iCloud+ plan to store its recordings, so ecobee’s own storage plan is the only route to recorded video.

If avoiding a second subscription matters, the Robin PoE HD Doorbell does support Secure Video.

Before you buy

It is a wired doorbell, so you need existing doorbell wiring and a transformer of the right rating.

The build is rated IP65 and specified from around minus 25 to plus 45 degrees Celsius, which covers most climates but is worth checking against a very cold one.
