The Elipson W35 Xi is a one-piece wireless music system from the French manufacturer Elipson: speakers, amplification and network streaming in a single cabinet.
Elipson has made loudspeakers since 1938, and its house style leans on shape and finish more than most. The W35 is the tidy option for a room where a stereo pair would be too much.
What Apple Home actually does with it
This is an AirPlay 2 speaker rather than a HomeKit accessory.
- It appears in the Home app as a speaker you can play to, and as an AirPlay target in Control Centre.
- You can assign it to a room and group it with HomePods for synchronised multi-room audio.
- Siri can send music to it by room name.
- It can be the audio output in a scene or an automation.
You cannot switch it on or set its volume from the Home app the way you would a light. Those stay with the speaker and its own app.
Before you buy
One cabinet cannot separate the stereo channels the way two can, which is the standing compromise of this format.
Check availability where you live. Elipson is well distributed in France and Europe and thinner elsewhere.
The Elipson Stream S300 Xi is the stereo pair from the same range and will image better.
