The eufy HomeBase S380, also sold as HomeBase 3, is the hub at the centre of a eufy camera system, and its argument is simple: no monthly fee. Recordings go to storage you own rather than to a subscription.

Storage

It ships with 16 GB of built-in storage and takes an internal drive to expand that to as much as 16 TB. For a house with several cameras recording continuously, that is the difference between a week of history and a year of it.

BionicMind

The AI runs on the hub, not in a cloud service. It learns faces and separates family from strangers, and it also distinguishes vehicles and pets, so the alerts you get are fewer and more useful. eufy quotes recognition accuracy up to 99 per cent.

Capacity

One HomeBase S380 handles up to 16 eufy cameras and doorbells plus 34 sensors. A 100 dB siren is built in and can be triggered by motion from any connected device. Traffic is encrypted with AES-128 and RSA-1024.

Before you buy

Check your cameras. The HomeBase supports eufy’s battery doorbells and its security cameras, but not the wired doorbells, and only some models are passed through to Apple Home. Confirm the specific camera you own before you rely on seeing it in the Home app.

As with any Apple Home accessory, remote access and automations need a home hub in the house: a HomePod or an Apple TV.
