The EZVIZ Home Gateway (model A3-R200) is the hub that brings EZVIZ’s battery sensors into Apple Home. On their own, EZVIZ contact sensors, motion sensors and buttons do not appear in the Home app. Connected through this gateway, the supported ones do.
What it connects
The gateway holds up to 32 battery-powered EZVIZ devices, or up to 64 once wired devices are included. Not every EZVIZ accessory is exposed to Apple Home, so check the model codes of the sensors you own or intend to buy against EZVIZ’s compatibility list before you rely on it.
It is also a siren
The A3-R200 carries a speaker rated at 85 dB with twenty selectable sounds. That turns the hub into the noise-maker for a sensor-based alarm, which saves buying a separate siren, and it means the hub wants to live somewhere it can be heard rather than hidden in a cupboard.
Connectivity
It supports Matter as well as Apple Home, and connects by wired Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Ethernet is the better choice for anything acting as an alarm, because it removes one failure mode.
Before you buy
The gateway is mains-powered and is not battery-backed, so a power cut takes the sensors offline with it.
As with any Apple Home accessory, remote access and automations need a HomePod or an Apple TV in the house.
