EZVIZ SHC EL3

Wi-FiSecure Video

The EZVIZ EL3 replaces an outdoor wall light and hides a 2K camera in it. That is a genuinely tidy idea for a driveway or a porch: one fitting, one cable, and no separate camera bracket bolted to the wall next to the lamp.

The light is not an afterthought. It puts out around 780 lumens with adjustable brightness and a colour temperature range of roughly 3000 K to 5700 K, so it works as the actual light for that part of the house.

Detection

The camera head moves, so it can follow activity across its field of view rather than staring at one fixed spot. On top of person and vehicle detection it does licence plate recognition, which is unusual at this price and useful on a driveway.

What works in Apple Home

  • View the live feed in the Home app.
  • Get motion notifications.
  • Use the camera and the light in scenes and automations.

The AI detection and the plate recognition run in the EZVIZ app.

Before you buy

This replaces a wired outdoor light fitting, so it is electrical work on an external circuit. Unless you are competent and permitted to do that, budget for an electrician.

Check the mounting height. Plate recognition needs the camera to see a plate square on, which is a different position from the one that best covers a doorway.

For indoors, the EZVIZ E6 is the equivalent camera.
