Harman Kardon Citation 710

The Harman Kardon Citation 710 belongs to the Citation range, Harman Kardon’s premium wireless speaker line, finished in wool fabric from the Danish mill Kvadrat rather than in plastic or metal.

The Citation range is designed as a family: speakers of several sizes, a soundbar and a subwoofer that all work together as a multi-room system, so a single speaker can grow into a whole-house setup.

What Apple Home actually does with it

This is an AirPlay 2 speaker rather than a HomeKit accessory.

• It appears in the Home app as a speaker you can play to, and as an AirPlay target in Control Centre.
• You can assign it to a room and group it with HomePods for synchronised multi-room audio.
• Siri can send music to it by room name.
• It can be the audio output in a scene or an automation.

You cannot switch it on or set its volume from the Home app the way you would a light. Those stay with the speaker itself and its own app.

Before you buy

The Kvadrat fabric is a genuine part of the appeal and a genuine consideration in a house with pets or small children.

Google Assistant is built into the Citation range, which means a microphone in the room.

The Harman Kardon Virtuo is the more design-led speaker from the same company.
