Integra DTM-7.4
The Integra DTM-7.4 is a network stereo receiver sold through custom installation dealers rather than high street shops. Integra is Onkyo’s installer-facing brand, and its products are built to be part of a fitted system: controlled by a wall panel or an automation system rather than only by a remote on the sofa.
It is a two-channel receiver with HDMI and streaming, so it drives a pair of speakers in a living room, a study or a fitted multi-room system.
What Apple Home actually does with it
This is an AirPlay 2 device, not a HomeKit accessory, and the difference matters.
- It appears in the Home app as a speaker you can play to, and in Control Centre as an AirPlay target.
- You can put it in a room and group it with HomePods for synchronised multi-room audio.
- Siri can send music to it by room name.
- You can use it as the audio output in a scene or an automation.
What you cannot do is turn it on, change the input or set the volume from the Home app as if it were a smart plug. Power, inputs and surround processing stay on the remote, the front panel and the manufacturer’s own app.
Integra receivers also carry the control ports and drivers that automation systems such as Control4, Crestron and Savant expect, which is the practical reason installers specify them.
Before you buy
Integra is sold and supported through dealers, so pricing and availability are not comparable with retail brands, and part of what you are buying is the installation.
The Integra DTM-8.4 sits above it in the same range.
