Integra DTM-8.4
The Integra DTM-8.4 is the larger of Integra’s network stereo receivers, sitting above the DTM-7.4 with more power and a fuller connection set.
Integra is the custom installation arm of Onkyo. Its receivers are designed to disappear into a rack and be driven by a control system, which is why they carry the ports and the third-party drivers that Control4, Crestron, Savant and similar platforms expect.
What Apple Home actually does with it
This is an AirPlay 2 device, not a HomeKit accessory, and the difference matters.
- It appears in the Home app as a speaker you can play to, and in Control Centre as an AirPlay target.
- You can put it in a room and group it with HomePods for synchronised multi-room audio.
- Siri can send music to it by room name.
- You can use it as the audio output in a scene or an automation.
What you cannot do is turn it on, change the input or set the volume from the Home app as if it were a smart plug. Power, inputs and surround processing stay on the remote, the front panel and the manufacturer’s own app.
Before you buy
This is dealer-supplied equipment. You are buying the installation and the programming as much as the box, and it is not usually sold or supported the way a retail receiver is.
For a stereo system in a living room bought over the counter, an Onkyo or a Denon receiver covers the same ground with easier support.
