The LIFX Lightstrip is the plain strip in the LIFX range. It lights the whole run in one colour at a time, which makes it the right choice for the jobs where a strip is doing lighting rather than decoration: under kitchen cabinets, behind a headboard, along a shelf or inside a wardrobe.
What works in Apple Home
- Turn the light on and off, and set brightness, colour and white temperature.
- Group it into rooms and zones alongside the rest of your lighting.
- Use it in scenes and automations, and control it with Siri.
Connectivity
LIFX bulbs join your Wi-Fi network directly. There is no bridge to buy, no hub to power and no spare Ethernet port to find, which is the main practical difference between LIFX and bridge-based systems such as Philips Hue. Remote access and automations still need a HomePod or an Apple TV in the house.
Before you buy
Decide first whether you want one colour along the whole strip or several. If you want a gradient, a chase or a colour that changes along the run, you need the LIFX Lightstrip Colour Zones instead. This one cannot do that, and it is the most common reason people return a strip.
Measure the run before ordering, and check where the controller and the power supply will sit. Strips are sold in fixed lengths with extensions, and the adhesive backing does not hold well on rough or dusty surfaces.
