Lipro Smart Ceiling Lamp

Matter

The Lipro Smart Ceiling Lamp is a flush ceiling light from Lipro, the smart home brand associated with Meizu. Its distinguishing feature is light quality rather than colour tricks: it reaches a colour rendering index of about Ra97, where most smart ceiling lights sit in the eighties.

That number describes how faithfully a light shows colour against daylight. At Ra97, skin, wood and fabric look close to how they look outside, which is the difference between a room that feels lit and one that feels fluorescent.

Design

The panel is roughly two centimetres thick. A three-layer structure of diffuser, light guide plate and reflector spreads the LEDs out so the ceiling shows an even glow rather than visible dots.

What works in Apple Home

  • Turn the light on and off, and set brightness and white temperature.
  • Group it into rooms and zones alongside the rest of your lighting.
  • Use it in scenes and automations, and control it with Siri.

The lamp supports Matter as well as Apple Home, so it does not need a Lipro hub.

Before you buy

Lipro sells the ceiling lamp in several sizes, commonly around 65 W with roughly 4000 lumens and around 75 W with roughly 5250 lumens, adjustable from about 3000 K to 5000 K. Match the wattage to the room rather than buying the brightest.

This is a mains ceiling fitting, so it replaces your existing light and needs an electrician unless you are competent to do that work.

Lipro sells mainly in mainland China. Check the supply voltage, the mounting plate and the app language before you import one.
