The LNDU Lock is the answer to a specific question: what is the cheapest way to get Apple Home Key on a front door? LNDU’s HK01 deadbolt undercuts the established brands substantially while still supporting tap-to-unlock from an iPhone or an Apple Watch, including when the phone’s battery has run down.
The same lock is sold in some US stores under the Nuk3y name.
What works in Apple Home
- Tap an iPhone or an Apple Watch on the lock to open it with Apple Home Key.
- Lock and unlock the door from the Home app, and see the current state.
- Get a notification on every lock and unlock event, recorded in the Home app.
- Use the lock in scenes and automations, and control it with Siri.
Siri asks you to authenticate before it unlocks the door. That is how Apple Home treats every lock, and it is not a limitation of this model.
Ways in
Six routes: fingerprint, Apple Home Key from the Wallet app, Siri, the touchscreen keypad, a backup mechanical key and the LNDU app. The keypad supports an anti-peeping code, so you can pad the real PIN with random digits while somebody is watching.
Power
Eight AA cells run it for roughly eight months, and the lock warns you before they go. A USB-C port on the outside gives emergency power if you ignore the warnings.
Before you buy
Check the model letter. The base HK01 uses Bluetooth, and the HK01W adds Wi-Fi in the lock for remote access without relying on a hub. Both need an Apple Home hub for automations.
