The Lockly Visage Facial Recognition Smart Lock opens as you walk up to it. Radar detects that somebody is approaching, and binocular facial recognition checks who it is, so the door can unlock without a tap or a code. It is the top model in Lockly’s Zeno series.
What works in Apple Home
- Tap an iPhone or an Apple Watch on the lock to open it with Apple Home Key.
- Lock and unlock the door from the Home app, and see the current state.
- Get a notification on every lock and unlock event.
- Use the lock in scenes and automations across the rest of your Apple Home.
Siri asks you to authenticate before it unlocks the door. That is how Apple Home treats every lock, and it is not a limitation of this model.
Ways in
Face recognition is the headline, but the Visage keeps the rest of the Lockly toolkit: a 3D fingerprint reader that responds in about a fifth of a second, the PIN Genie keypad, a QR code option for visitors and offline access codes for when the internet is down.
The PIN Genie keypad shuffles the position of the digits on every use. Somebody watching you, or reading the fingermarks on the keypad, cannot work out the code from the pattern.
Connectivity
Wi-Fi is built into the lock, so it does not need a separate Lockly bridge. Apple Home still needs a HomePod or an Apple TV in the house for remote access and automations.
