The Loewe klang bar3 mr is a soundbar from the German television manufacturer Loewe, and the “mr” marks it as a multi-room model.
Loewe’s identity is design-led and expensive: aluminium, fabric and restraint, built to sit under one of the company’s own televisions without looking like an accessory bolted on afterwards.
What Apple Home actually does with it
This is an AirPlay 2 device rather than a HomeKit accessory.
- It appears in the Home app as a speaker you can play to, and as an AirPlay target in Control Centre.
- You can put it in a room and group it with HomePods for synchronised multi-room audio.
- Siri can send music to it by room name.
- It can be the audio output in a scene or an automation.
Television sound does not go through Apple Home at all. That arrives over HDMI ARC or optical from the television, and the soundbar’s own remote and app control the modes and the volume.
Before you buy
A separate wireless subwoofer is available and makes a substantial difference, as it does with any bar of this size.
Loewe equipment is priced as design as well as audio. If sound per pound is the metric, mainstream brands win; if the bar has to look right under a particular television in a particular room, that is what you are paying for.
The Loewe multi.room amp extends the same system to other rooms.
