The Nanoleaf Blocks are modular light panels that clip together into a shape you design. They belong to the decorative end of Nanoleaf’s range rather than the functional one: the point is a wall that looks like something, not a room that is well lit.

What works in Apple Home

  • Turn the panels on and off, and set brightness and colour.
  • Group them into rooms and zones alongside the rest of your lighting.
  • Use them in scenes and automations, and control them with Siri.

Apple Home treats the assembled shape as a single light. The per-panel animations, the layouts and the touch effects live in the Nanoleaf app.

Before you buy

Plan the layout on paper first. Panels are sold as a starter kit plus expansion packs, and the design you settle on determines how many you need and where the controller and power lead have to come out.

Mounting is the part people underestimate. The panels go up on adhesive pads, which hold well on smooth painted plaster and badly on wallpaper, textured paint or anything freshly decorated. If you expect to move the shape later, factor in replacement mounting kits.

These are an accent light. Keep a normal ceiling or lamp fitting in the room as well.
