The Nanoleaf Skylight is a ceiling light, not a wall decoration. It hard-wires to an existing ceiling circuit in place of your current fitting, and it is modular, so you build the panel out to the size and shape of the room rather than choosing a fixed fixture.

What works in Apple Home

  • Turn the light on and off, and set brightness, colour and white temperature.
  • Group it into rooms and zones alongside the rest of your lighting.
  • Use it in scenes and automations, and control it with Siri.

Matter, Thread and Sense+

The Skylight supports Matter, so it joins Apple Home without a Nanoleaf bridge. It also acts as a Thread border router, which means it strengthens the Thread network the rest of your smart home runs on rather than only consuming it. That is unusual in a light and worth weighing if your Thread coverage is thin at one end of the house.

Built-in Sense+ sensors add motion and ambient light detection, so the fitting can respond to the room on its own.

Before you buy

This is wired work. The Skylight replaces a mains ceiling fixture, so unless you are competent and permitted to do that where you live, budget for an electrician.

Plan the layout before you order. Modular panels are bought in a starter kit plus expansions, and the shape you can build depends on the ceiling and on where the existing rose sits.
