Netatmo Indoor Camera Advance

The Netatmo Indoor Camera Advance is a wired indoor camera with a 130-degree field of view and an adjustable mount, and its main attraction is what it does not charge you for. Netatmo gives you every feature without a subscription.

The limitation to know about

The Advance works with Apple Home, but it does not support HomeKit Secure Video. In the Home app you get the live feed plus presence and motion detection. You do not get Apple’s recorded clips in iCloud, the activity zones or the face recognition drawn from your Photos library.

That is the trade. If Secure Video is what you came for, this camera cannot do it, and a camera that supports it will serve you better. If you would rather not pay for iCloud+ and are content with a live view and alerts, the Advance costs you nothing per month.

Before you buy

It is a wired camera, so it needs a socket where you mount it, and the 130-degree lens wants a corner rather than a wall midpoint to cover a room properly.

As with any Apple Home accessory, remote access and automations need a home hub in the house: a HomePod or an Apple TV.
