The Nooie Smart Plug NSP11 pro is a Wi-Fi socket that works with Apple Home without a hub.
What works in Apple Home
- Switch whatever is plugged in on and off.
- Use the socket in scenes and automations, and control it with Siri.
Schedules, countdowns, loop timers that cycle a device on and off, and an away mode that switches lights at irregular times all run in the Nooie app.
Connectivity
The plug joins your Wi-Fi directly, so there is no hub. It uses 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only, with Bluetooth for setup. A 5 GHz-only network will not work, and on a combined network you may need to separate the bands to get it paired.
Which model to buy
Nooie sells the same plug under three model numbers, NSP01, NSP11 and NSP21. They differ by socket standard rather than by function, so the model you want is decided by the country you are in, not by the feature list.
The NSP21 pro is the 230 V version rated at 13 A, and the NSP01 pro is the third variant. Check the pin layout in the product photographs before ordering, particularly from an overseas seller.
Before you buy
Match the plug’s current rating to what you intend to run from it. Lamps and televisions are fine. Heaters, kettles and anything else with a heating element need checking against the rating.
A bulky plug body can cover the neighbouring socket on a double outlet. Worth measuring if the outlet is behind furniture.
As with any Apple Home accessory, remote access and automations need a home hub in the house: a HomePod or an Apple TV.
