Paradigm SVX-1202
The Paradigm SVX-1202 is a two-channel streaming power amplifier built for jobs ordinary hi-fi amplifiers cannot do: driving landscape speakers across a garden, powering large custom subwoofers, or feeding a light commercial installation.
The numbers explain why. It delivers around 600 watts per channel into 8 ohms and about 1200 watts per channel into 4 ohms, with 70 volt line operation for distributed systems, using Class-D amplification with load monitoring to survive those conditions.
What Apple Home actually does with it
This is an AirPlay 2 device rather than a HomeKit accessory.
- It shows up in the Home app as a speaker you can play to, and as an AirPlay target in Control Centre.
- You can assign it to a room and group it with HomePods for synchronised multi-room audio.
- Siri can send music to it by room name.
- It can be the audio output in a scene or an automation.
It is not an accessory you switch on or set the volume of from the Home app. Power, input selection and volume stay with the unit, its remote and its own app.
Anthem Room Correction
The amplifier includes Anthem Room Correction, the measurement and correction system from Paradigm’s sister brand. In a garden or a large open space that matters more than it does in a living room, because those environments do unpredictable things to bass.
Before you buy
This is custom installation equipment. It has IP control for automation systems, and it is normally specified by an installer alongside the speakers and the cabling rather than bought over the counter.
If you are looking for an amplifier for a pair of hi-fi speakers in a living room, this is the wrong product by a wide margin.
