Remootio 2 Smart Garage Door Opener
The Remootio 2 does not replace your garage door opener. It wires into the one you already have, across the same terminals a wall button uses, and adds Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Apple Home to it. That makes it one of the cheapest ways to make an old door smart, and it works with most openers and electric gates rather than a specific brand.
The sensor is the important part
A door sensor is included, and it is what turns this from a remote control into something useful. Without it, Apple Home can send an open or close signal but has no idea what the door is actually doing. With it, the Home app shows whether the door is open or closed, so you can check from the office and write automations that depend on the real state.
What works in Apple Home
- Open and close the door, and see whether it is open or closed.
- Get a notification when it opens.
- Use the door in scenes and automations, and control it with Siri.
Security and cost
Remootio uses 256-bit end-to-end encryption, and there is no subscription. For a device whose whole job is opening a door into your house, both of those are worth more than a feature list.
Before you buy
The Remootio 2 runs on 5 V DC only. Check what your opener provides before ordering, because a 12 V or 24 V supply needs a different model or a separate adapter.
Wiring it in means working inside the opener housing. It is simple work, but the manual is the thing to read before you buy, not after.
As with any Apple Home accessory, remote access and automations need a home hub in the house: a HomePod or an Apple TV.
