The roborock S8 MaxV Ultra is the top of roborock’s S8 line, sold with the RockDock Ultra, a dock that handles emptying, washing with hot water, drying and refilling in one unit.

The feature that separates it from its rivals is the extending arm. A side brush and the mop pad reach out beyond the body of the robot, so it cleans right up to a skirting board and into a corner instead of leaving the usual untouched border.

What works in Apple Home

Apple Home supports robot vacuums through Matter. It gives you start, stop, return to dock and the current state, which is enough to include the vacuum in scenes and automations.

Everything else, including the maps, the no-mop zones, the carpet detection settings and the schedules, lives in the roborock app. That is how Matter defines robot vacuums, so the same is true across this category.

Before you buy

The RockDock Ultra is a large appliance. Measure the space, and confirm there is a permanent socket there, before you commit.

If your home is mostly carpet, most of what you are paying for here is the mopping system. A cheaper vacuum-only robot will do the same work on carpet for much less.
