Sonoro Maestro Quantum
The sonoro MAESTRO Quantum is a German all-in-one hi-fi system: amplifier, network streamer, radio and CD drive in a single lacquered case, to which you add speakers.
sonoro is one of the few manufacturers still building the CD drive in as standard rather than treating it as obsolete, and that is a large part of the appeal for anybody with shelves of discs.
What Apple Home actually does with it
This is an AirPlay 2 device rather than a HomeKit accessory.
- It shows up in the Home app as a speaker you can play to, and as an AirPlay target in Control Centre.
- You can assign it to a room and group it with HomePods for synchronised multi-room audio.
- Siri can send music to it by room name.
- It can be the audio output in a scene or an automation.
It is not an accessory you switch on or set the volume of from the Home app. Power, input selection and volume stay with the unit, its remote and its own app.
Before you buy
Match the speakers to the system. sonoro sells its own, but the unit will drive most standmount speakers, and that pairing decides more about the sound than the electronics do.
An all-in-one saves a great deal of space and cabling compared with separates, at the cost of upgrading everything at once when any one part becomes limiting.
The MEISTERSTÜCK is sonoro’s system with the speakers built in as well.
