Sonoro MEISTERSTÜCK (Gen. 2)
The sonoro MEISTERSTÜCK (Gen. 2) is a complete music system in a single lacquered cabinet: amplifier, speakers, network streaming, radio and a CD drive, so nothing else is needed at all.
sonoro is German, and the MEISTERSTÜCK is its flagship. Where most of the industry has dropped disc playback, sonoro still builds it in, which is a large part of why people buy the company’s products.
What Apple Home actually does with it
This is an AirPlay 2 speaker rather than a HomeKit accessory.
- It appears in the Home app as a speaker you can play to, and as an AirPlay target in Control Centre.
- You can assign it to a room and group it with HomePods for synchronised multi-room audio.
- Siri can send music to it by room name.
- It can be the audio output in a scene or an automation.
You cannot switch it on or set its volume from the Home app the way you would a light. Those stay with the speaker and its own app.
Before you buy
An all-in-one cabinet cannot separate the stereo channels the way two speakers can. That is the compromise, and it is the price of having one object instead of five.
The lacquer finish is a genuine part of the cost and is finished to furniture standards.
The MAESTRO Quantum is sonoro’s system for use with separate speakers, which will image better in exchange for taking up more room.
