The T+A MP 2500 R G3 is the larger multi-source player in T+A’s R Series, with a more substantial power supply and converter section than the MP 2000 R.
T+A is a German manufacturer, family-owned and based in Herford, which designs and builds almost everything in house. Its products are known for combining formats other makers have abandoned, so a single unit may handle CD, SACD, FM and DAB radio, network streaming and USB audio.
What Apple Home actually does with it
This is an AirPlay 2 device rather than a HomeKit accessory.
- It appears in the Home app as a speaker you can play to, and as an AirPlay target in Control Centre.
- You can put it in a room and group it with HomePods for synchronised multi-room audio.
- Siri can send music to it by room name.
- It can be the audio output in a scene or an automation.
Power, input selection and volume stay with the unit, its remote and its own app. The Home app does not control those.
Before you buy
A multi-source player of this kind is bought to replace several boxes at once. If you own discs, listen to radio and stream, it consolidates all of that into one component with one power supply and one set of cables.
T+A equipment is sold through specialist dealers, with demonstration expected before purchase. The G3 designation marks the current generation, so check which generation a listing refers to.
Other T+A components in this directory include the R 2500 R and the Symphonia.
