Teufel Motiv Home

The Teufel MOTIV Home is a one-piece music system from the German direct-sale manufacturer Teufel: speakers, amplification and network streaming in a single cabinet.

The MOTIV name has been on Teufel’s compact systems for a long time, and this is the current network version, aimed at a room where a stereo pair would be too much.

What Apple Home actually does with it

This is an AirPlay 2 speaker rather than a HomeKit accessory.

• It appears in the Home app as a speaker you can play to, and as an AirPlay target in Control Centre.
• You can assign it to a room and group it with HomePods for synchronised multi-room audio.
• Siri can send music to it by room name.
• It can be the audio output in a scene or an automation.

You cannot switch it on or set its volume from the Home app the way you would a light. Those stay with the speaker and its own app.

Before you buy

Teufel sells direct with a long return period, which suits a product like this: a one-box system either fits the room or it does not, and that is best judged at home.

A single cabinet cannot produce the stereo width of two separated speakers. For that, the STEREO M 2 or STEREO L 2 pairs are the alternative.
