Viena Acoustics Mozart Infinity
The Vienna Acoustics Mozart Infinity is an active wireless version of the company’s long-running Mozart floorstanding loudspeaker: the same Austrian cabinet and driver engineering, with amplification, conversion and network streaming built in.
Vienna Acoustics names its models after composers, and the Mozart has been the middle of the range for many years. The Infinity version removes the need for any separate electronics.
What Apple Home actually does with it
This is an AirPlay 2 speaker rather than a HomeKit accessory.
- It appears in the Home app as a speaker you can play to, and as an AirPlay target in Control Centre.
- You can assign it to a room and group it with HomePods for synchronised multi-room audio.
- Siri can send music to it by room name.
- It can be the audio output in a scene or an automation.
You cannot switch it on or set its volume from the Home app the way you would a light. Those stay with the speaker and its own app.
Before you buy
Active floorstanders need mains power at each speaker, which is a real placement constraint. Plan the sockets before choosing where they stand.
The case for active speakers is that the manufacturer matches the amplifier to the drivers exactly, rather than leaving you to guess. The case against is that you cannot upgrade the two separately.
These are full-size floorstanding speakers and want space behind them and a room to work in.
