The VOCOlinc Smart Desk Lamp is a task light rather than an accent light. It puts out around 750 lumens across a wide panel, so it lights a whole desk evenly instead of throwing a bright circle onto one part of it and leaving your eyes to cope with the contrast.
What works in Apple Home
- Turn the lamp on and off, and set brightness and white temperature.
- Group it into rooms and zones alongside the rest of your lighting.
- Use it in scenes and automations, and control it with Siri.
The controls that matter for a desk
Dimming is stepless from zero to full, and the colour temperature runs from 2700 K to 6500 K. That range covers both ends of a working day: cool light in the morning while you concentrate, warm light in the evening so the lamp does not fight your body clock.
A touch strip on the lamp itself adjusts both, so you do not have to reach for a phone to make a small change.
Before you buy
VOCOlinc sells more than one desk lamp. The DL2202 adds a wireless charging pad in the base, which is worth the difference if your phone otherwise lives on the same desk. The DL2201 is the plain version.
Neither needs a hub. As with any Apple Home accessory, remote access and automations need a HomePod or an Apple TV in the house.
