The Xiaoyan Smart Lock comes from Xiaoyan Technology, the Chinese smart home firm that sells as Terncy in some markets. It was among the first HomeKit-certified fully automatic locks: verification triggers the motor, the bolts withdraw and the door opens without you turning anything.
What works in Apple Home
- Lock and unlock the door from the Home app, and see the current state.
- Get a notification on every lock and unlock event.
- Use the lock in scenes and automations, and control it with Siri.
Siri asks you to authenticate before it unlocks the door. That is how Apple Home treats every lock, and it is not a limitation of this model.
Because Xiaoyan built the lock for HomeKit from the start rather than bridging it in later, it pairs directly into the Home app.
Ways in
Six routes: fingerprint, a keypad password, an RFID card, a mechanical key, Siri and remote unlocking from the app. The fingerprint module is a financial-grade semiconductor sensor from the Swedish firm FPC, which reads the ridge pattern electrically rather than optically and is harder to fool with a photograph.
Security
The lock guards against two attacks that matter on Chinese apartment doors: peephole attacks, where a tool is passed through the door viewer to turn the inside handle, and black-box attacks, where an electromagnetic pulse is used to trip the motor.
Before you buy
Xiaoyan sells mainly in China and Taiwan. Check availability, the interface language and the warranty in your country, and confirm that the unit is the HomeKit-certified version.
