The Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch is the biometric model in the Assure Lock 2 family. A fingerprint reader sits in the face of the lock, and a key cylinder gives you a mechanical fallback if the batteries die.
What works in Apple Home
- Lock and unlock the door from the Home app, and see the current state.
- Get a notification on every lock and unlock event.
- Use the lock in scenes and automations across the rest of your Apple Home.
Siri asks you to authenticate before it unlocks the door. That is how Apple Home treats every lock, and it is not a limitation of this model.
What it gives up
The Touch does not support Apple Home Key. You cannot tap an iPhone or an Apple Watch on this lock. If tap-to-unlock matters more to you than a fingerprint, buy the Yale Assure Lock 2 Plus instead. The Plus adds Home Key, and in exchange it removes both the fingerprint reader and the key cylinder.
That single choice is the main decision in this range, and the two models otherwise look and fit the same.
Connectivity
The base lock uses Bluetooth. Yale sells a Wi-Fi version with the radio built into the lock, so no bridge is needed, and the Yale Wi-Fi Smart Module adds Wi-Fi to a Bluetooth lock later. Apple Home still needs a HomePod or an Apple TV for remote access and automations.
