The Yale ByYou D Pro is the deadbolt member of Yale’s ByYou Pro family. It suits doors where the lock is a separate bolt rather than part of the handle set.
What works in Apple Home
- Tap an iPhone or an Apple Watch on the lock to open it with Apple Home Key.
- Lock and unlock the door from the Home app, and see the current state.
- Get a notification on every lock and unlock event.
- Use the lock in scenes and automations across the rest of your Apple Home.
Siri asks you to authenticate before it unlocks the door. That is how Apple Home treats every lock, and it is not a limitation of this model.
Ways in
The D Pro opens with a fingerprint, a PIN code, an RFID key tag or the Yale Home app. It stores fingerprints for up to 100 users, which is far more than a household needs and makes it usable for a small office or a holiday let.
The RFID tag is the quiet advantage. It gives access to somebody who has no smartphone, and you can withdraw it without changing everyone else’s code.
Before you buy
The ByYou range is sold through Yale’s regional sites, and the model line-up differs by country. Confirm on the listing for your own market that the unit ships with Apple Home Key support and that it fits your door preparation.
The ByYou Pro puts the fingerprint reader in the handle instead, and the ByYou V Pro is the rim lock version.
