Yale ByYou G Pro

The Yale ByYou G Pro is the gate lock in Yale’s ByYou Pro family. It is built for a garden gate or a side entrance rather than for a front door, which means it has to survive weather and to work where there is no mains power and often no strong Wi-Fi.

What works in Apple Home

• Tap an iPhone or an Apple Watch on the lock to open it with Apple Home Key.
• Lock and unlock the gate from the Home app, and see the current state.
• Get a notification on every lock and unlock event.
• Use the gate in scenes and automations, for example to check that it is locked at night.

Siri asks you to authenticate before it unlocks the door. That is how Apple Home treats every lock, and it is not a limitation of this model.

Ways in

The G Pro opens with a fingerprint, a PIN code, an RFID key tag or the Yale Home app. For a gate, the code and the tag matter most, because they let a delivery driver or a gardener in without an app.

Before you buy

A gate is usually the furthest point from your Apple Home hub and your router. Check the signal at the gate before you commit, and plan for a Thread border router or a repeater nearby if the reading is weak.
