Yale ByYou Pro

The Yale ByYou Pro is a European-style smart lock with the fingerprint reader built into the handle itself. Yale calls this Grab-and-Go: you take hold of the handle in the normal way and the door reads your fingerprint as you do it, so there is no separate pad to find in the dark.

What works in Apple Home

• Tap an iPhone or an Apple Watch on the lock to open it with Apple Home Key.
• Lock and unlock the door from the Home app, and see the current state.
• Get a notification on every lock and unlock event.
• Use the lock in scenes and automations across the rest of your Apple Home.

Siri asks you to authenticate before it unlocks the door. That is how Apple Home treats every lock, and it is not a limitation of this model.

Ways in

The ByYou Pro takes a fingerprint, a PIN code, an RFID key tag or the Yale Home app. The RFID tag is worth noting: it suits children, older relatives and anybody you would rather not set up with an app.

Before you buy

The ByYou range is built for European door hardware rather than for US deadbolts, and Yale sells it through different regional sites with different model names. Check that the version on sale in your country matches your door, and confirm Apple Home Key support on that specific listing before you order.
