The Yale ByYou V Pro is the vertical rim lock in Yale’s ByYou Pro family. A rim lock mounts on the inside face of the door rather than inside its edge, so it fits doors that were never prepared for a mortice or a deadbolt. That makes it a common choice for flats and for older doors you do not want to cut into.
The V in the name marks the orientation. The body runs up and down the door, which suits a narrow door with height to spare. The ByYou H Pro is the same lock turned horizontal, for doors with the opposite problem.
What works in Apple Home
- Tap an iPhone or an Apple Watch on the lock to open it with Apple Home Key.
- Lock and unlock the door from the Home app, and see the current state.
- Get a notification on every lock and unlock event.
- Use the lock in scenes and automations across the rest of your Apple Home.
Siri asks you to authenticate before it unlocks the door. That is how Apple Home treats every lock, and it is not a limitation of this model.
Ways in
The V Pro opens with a fingerprint, a PIN code, an RFID key tag or the Yale Home app.
Before you buy
Rim locks are sensitive to the geometry of the door and the frame. Measure the space on the inside face and check the keep position before you order.
Yale sells the ByYou range through regional sites, and the line-up differs by country, so confirm Apple Home Key support on your local listing. The ByYou Pro and the ByYou D Pro cover handle-set and deadbolt doors instead.
