The Yale Unity Slim Smart Lock is a multipoint mortice lock with a deliberately narrow escutcheon. That shape is the point: it fits the slim stiles of aluminium-framed doors as well as timber ones, where a standard smart lock escutcheon is simply too wide.
What works in Apple Home
- Lock and unlock the door from the Home app, and see the current state.
- Get a notification on every lock and unlock event.
- Use the lock in scenes and automations across the rest of your Apple Home.
Siri asks you to authenticate before it unlocks the door. That is how Apple Home treats every lock, and it is not a limitation of this model.
Ways in
The Unity Slim uses a built-in keypad and the Yale Home app. There is no fingerprint reader on this model, so plan on codes rather than biometrics for the people who use the door.
Before you buy
Multipoint locks engage at several points up the frame, and they are matched to a particular backset and to a particular door preparation. Measure the existing mortice case before you order, and check whether your door needs a specific backset variant.
If a narrow door frame is not your constraint, and you want tap-to-unlock, look at the Apple Home Key models in the Yale range instead.
